Why Upgrade

Four reasons homeowners finally replace the 90s thermostat.

Actual energy savings

Learning schedules and geofencing cut HVAC runtime 10-20%. Nest and Ecobee both publish verified savings reports from Oncor customers.

Remote control

Left for the cabin at Possum Kingdom? Cool the house an hour before you pull in the driveway. Every Dallas summer needs this.

Proper C-Wire work

Missing a common wire? We add one at the board or install a Venstar 24V adapter. No risk of blowing the transformer.

Whole-home integration

Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, Alexa. Nighttime routine drops temp, locks the doors, arms the cameras. One button.

Client Experiences

What the neighborhood is saying.

Verified 5-star Google reviews from Dallas-Fort Worth property owners.

I tried installing a Nest myself and blew a fuse on my furnace control board. Cognito came out, fixed the C-Wire issue, and had it running seamlessly.

They synced our three different Ecobee systems across a large multi-zone home. Now everything is perfectly balanced via Apple HomeKit.

Super straightforward pricing. I bought the unit at Costco, they arrived the next day, killed the breaker safely, and installed it in 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions.

Most modern smart thermostats (Nest, Ecobee) require a Common Wire (C-Wire) to provide continuous 24V power. If your older home does not have one pulled to the wall, we can install a 24V power adapter, jump the connection properly at the HVAC board, or run a new wire — whichever is cleanest for your setup.
Thermostats switch 24V current straight from your HVAC control board. Crossing the wrong wires (like jumping R and C) will blow the control-board fuse, which can mean a $300-$800 repair call. We kill the breaker, label every wire, and verify voltage before making any connections.
Yes. If your home has multiple HVAC units (upstairs and downstairs, or separate wings), we sync multiple smart thermostats to work together and install wireless remote temperature sensors in specific bedrooms so the system heats or cools based on where you actually are.
Yes. As part of the install we link your new thermostat to Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, or Alexa so you can trigger climate via geofencing, voice, or automations (lights-out at bedtime drops temperature to 68, for example).
Both are excellent. We recommend Ecobee SmartThermostat if you want remote temperature sensors included and deep Apple HomeKit support. Nest Learning Thermostat is the more polished interface and integrates best with the Google Home app. For Honeywell holdouts, the T10 Pro is a solid pick.
Most single-thermostat installs take 30-45 minutes including the safety shutoff, wiring, mounting, app setup, and testing heat and cool cycles. Multi-zone homes with three thermostats typically wrap in under 2 hours.
